Le Fury FC d’Ottawa vend ses droits de franchise de la USL

Déc 11, 2019

OTTAWA – Ottawa Fury FC today announced its USL franchise rights have been sold to Riccardo Silva, owner of The Miami FC soccer club.   Miami FC is managed by former Fury FC head coach and general manager, Paul Dalglish.

“We had a USL franchise that was not permitted to play in the USL Championship league because it was based in Canada,” said John Pugh, Ottawa Fury FC’s President.  “After we announced our cessation of operations, discussions took place about our USL franchise rights and things progressed very quickly from there.”

Fury FC’s governing bodies failed to provide the club with the sanctioning that it required to play in the USL Championship in 2020.  As a result, Fury FC was forced to suspend operations in early November to allow its staff and players sufficient time to find work for the 2020 season.

“We are extremely grateful to USL CEO Alec Papadakis and President Jake Edwards for their leadership and whole-hearted support during this difficult process,” said Pugh.  “We’re also thankful to Paul Dalglish and his team for helping to facilitate this transaction.”
